London, Macmillan and Co. This is a two book set of the People's Edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There with illustrations by John Tenniel (42 and 50 illustrations respectively). Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is an early 1891 edition of the "People's Edition" of the books, while Through the Looking-Glass is a First Edition 1887 copy of the "People's Edition". The People's edition of the books are rebound leftover copies of the first edition that were made after Macmillan released the second editions. Both books have been rebound in beautiful red morooco with gilt rabbits and playing cards on the spines. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is listed as the 26th Thousand, while Through the Looking-Glass has no listed number. Both have the original cover and spine tipped in to the books at the back. The pages in both books have sporadic minor spotting.
